Vascular access for administering IV Chemotherapy medications
Ongoing studies and research into various methods of administering IV Chemotherapy are very important as there are many factors to consider, including patient safety and comfort and complications, including infections, extravasations and others.
In addition, each method has an impact on clinical efficiency, efficacy and cost-effectiveness.
It appears that a recent study (see link below) provides further evidence in support of Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters and ports as opposed to Hickman catheters and illustrates the considerations taken into account.
