Summary

WoundSoak® Continuous Wound Infusion (CWI) Soaking Catheter is a fenestrated wound catheter for postoperative continuous infusion of local anaesthetics and analgesics directly into the surgical site for optimised postoperative pain relief.

The WoundSoak® catheter delivers pain management medications uniformly into the wound through a specially designed spiral, multi-holed, fenestrated section.

Continuous Wound Infusion may be used as a single technique or as part of multi-modal pain management approach.

The benefits of the Continuous Wound Infusion technique are well studied and documented with many clinical experts agreeing:

  • Postoperative pain management through continuous infusion is a simple and efficient technique for reducing postoperative pain, morphine use and length of hospital stay.1
  • Continuous wound catheters improve analgesia, reduce opioid use and side effects, and increase patient satisfaction.2
  • The most notable feature is the consistent evidence of these benefits across a wide range of surgical procedures, location of wound catheters, and dosing regimens accompanied with low incidences of catheter-related complications.2
  • There is a significant decrease in hospital length of stay, which is likely to result in significant cost reductions.3-4

The WoundSoak® Continuous Wound Infusion (CWI) Catheter is available in five lengths to enable best fit in a variety of surgical and laparoscopic procedures. The Continuous Wound Infusion catheters are used in a wide range of surgical procedures including:

  • Abdominal Surgery
  • Inguinal Hernia
  • Gynaecology and Caesarian Surgery
  • Mamarian Surgery
  • Cardiothoracic Surgery
  • Orthopaedic Surgeries

WoundSoak® Continuous Wound Infusion (CWI) Soaking Catheter for postoperative continuous infusion that fits perfectly onto our Dosi-Fuser® portable elastomeric pumps. Using the Continuous Wound Infusion Technique, anaesthetics and analgesics are infused through a multi-orifice catheter directly into the surgical site for optimized postoperative pain relief.

WoundSoak® catheter may also be used with any electronic infusion pumps or other elastomeric infusion pumps.

  • Optimised Catheter Design:
Providing uniform flow with catheter in situ covering the entire wound area uniformly
  • Atraumatic Marked Tip and Clear Catheter Marking:
Aiding in identification of the fenestrated section of the catheter and in alignment of the fenestrated section with the wound catheter
  • Robust, High Tensile Strength:
    Reducing the risk of breakage
  • Radio Opaque Catheter Construction:
Helping to accurately visualise catheter position when using imaging techniques
  • Complete Insertion System:
Each catheter is provided in a complete kit that Includes a peel-away introducer sheath, needle, Tegaderm dressing, priming syringe and securement strips. Additionally, kits are available that include a single use elastomeric pump.
  • Complete Range of Catheters:
WoundSoak® catheters are offered in five different lengths to match the various lengths of wounds
  • Support for Bi-lateral Procedures:
Two WoundSoak® catheters may be used simultaneously with our MedFuser® elastomeric pump models that are provided with Bifrucated (double/split) independent flow controls.
  • Flexibility to support patient care in a number of different Pain Management procedures and protocols
WoundSoak® Continuous Wound Infusion (CWI) Soaking Catheters for postoperative continuous infusion work very well when connected to our DOSI-FUSER® portable elastomeric pumps. Alternatively, the WoundSoak® catheters may also be used with any electronic infusion pumps or other elastomeric infusion pumps.
