Spirit Medical® Blood Administration Gravity Sets have been developed to help support best practice in intravenous administration of blood and blood components.  

In designing and manufacturing our Spirit Medical® Blood Administration Sets, we have carefully considered the current blood transfusion guidelines as well as direct input from clinicians involved in blood transfusions. In cooperation with Operating Theatre clinical staff, we also developed this specialised presentation of the Spirit Medical® Blood Administration Set that includes a pre-assembled 3-way tap and 150 cm extension set. 

Spirit Medical® Blood and Blood Components Administration Gravity Sets help to assure patient safety with the following features:  

Ensuring that the infused blood is clean:  

• Spirit Medical®  Blood Sets include an integral, soft 200 micron mesh filter that eliminates impurities, blood clots and cellular debris. 

Ensuring blood is delivered safely and reliably: 

• Large volume drip chamber with large surface area of the filter assures smooth, uninterrupted flow of blood.  
• Drip chamber calibrated to deliver 20 drops per 1 ml and the roller clamp specifically designed to assure precise flow rate setting. 
• High quality, non-DEHP and Latex free tubing provides confidence and reliability. 
• Kink resistant tubing – helps prevent occlusions
• Our main Blood Administration Sets are provided with non-vented drip chambers to help prevent air embolism.  

Making priming quick, efficient and free of fluid spills: 

• All Spirit Medical® Blood Administration sets are provided with EasyPrime® caps that stop the priming fluid automatically. This helps to avoid spills of IV fluids and makes the priming process fast, efficient and clean. 

Comfortable set-up and access in specialised clinical settings including Operating Theatres: 

• Spirit Medical® Blood Sets are 185cm long allowing the right length of access without the set resting on the floor 
• For specialised settings such as operating theatres, Spirit Medical® Blood Sets are available with pre-assembled 3-way tap and further 150cm extension set for a total length of 335cm. 
• The pre-assembly of the 3-way tap and extension saves clinical time, improves overall efficiency and helps to reduce hospital packaging waste. 

Clear communication and Identification of purpose: 

• Colour-coded roller clamp with a red roller and red coloured text on packaging help to readily identify the Spirit Medical® Blood Sets as suitable for administration of blood and blood components.
